My Let’s Meat - KBBQ Experience

This was such a great dining experience! My first time going and they left a lasting impression on me. Which says a lot about a business because I’m adding it to my list of repeat businesses I would be glad to dine out to any day.

Let’s start from the beginning.

This was a birthday event for my boyfriend. He’d researched a few options for celebrating his birthday. He actually really wanted to do dinner first at “Let’s Meat - KBBQ” and then migrate over to the karaoke lounge “Seoul Food Meat Company”. He really wanted to try this karaoke place out because it had actual room’s which was the type of experience he was looking for; not an open stage concept. However, that part of the plan was eliminated due to not making a reservation in advance.

We arrived at Let’s Meat - KBBQ at about 9:30pm our other friend couple had already checked the party in when they arrived. Parking is pretty much your typical Uptown Charlotte/NoDa parking. You can try to find some street parking for free either up the street or around the corner or you can just park in the mini lot out pack through “ParkMobile” which is $4 for 12 hours. We found a spot in the lot and walked to the front.

Then proceeded to wait about 20-25 minutes in their outside seating area. It wasn’t cold and they had one of those heater lamps outside so it helped. Our entire party was a total of 7 people, not bad. Once our table was ready we were called in and seated. Now I expected to be seated at a larger table that could hold our entire party but that wasn’t the case. They did have larger tables with two cooking areas but they were already occupied, and the quickest way to seat us would be at two tables side by side. Our tables just felt a bit divided since there was a ledge in between us, but we still managed.

The cool thing about Let’s Meat - KBBQ is that it’s an all you can eat restaurant unique to the South End of Charlotte. Each person pays $30.00, and each table can order up to three meats at a time. That just means you can’t order five meats all at once. You have to pace yourself. Which makes sense because they have a policy that states wasting food will cost each person and additional 10% for the bill. We had our waiter clarify what that meant. Basically, pay attention to yourself, don’t let your eyes be bigger than your stomach, and eat at least half of the meat you order and cook. Again not a bad policy.

Now the concept of Let’s Meat - KBBQ is very similar to The Melting Pot. Food comes out raw and it’s cooked in front of you. At this restaurant however the food is cooked on a miniature grill, the fire burning below the surface. Also you’re not forced to cook your own meat. The waiter comes back quite frequently to help cook the food, but you don’t have to wait on them. If you want to take it off before they come back you can, and if you want to start cooking the next meat you can. With the grill in the middle, there are different seasonings and sauces on the outskirts of it. There’s also a variety of appetizers given to you at the beginning.

Meat is not the only thing you can order.

Our entire party ordered bowls of sticky rice. Some ordered egg souffles. I don’t know how to explain that other than it’s like a giant bowl of eggs floating in liquid of sorts. Most of them just mixed the egg in with their rice. What was so great about this experience was going with so many people. I definitely recommend this if you’re not an adventurous eater. Not to mention that they do give you a decent amount of food. Even at the table I was at which consisted of three people it was a fair amount for everyone to share. It also helps in a group having that mixture of taste buds and palettes. So if a meat is ordered and someone doesn’t like it most likely the other two to three people will devour it. Also, having so many people means being able to try a ton of different options.

What I managed to get through and in order of my favorite to meh:

  1. Pork Bulgogi - A bit on the salty side but packed with a ton of flavor.

  2. Ribeye Steak - I love a good steak! It had an okay amount of fat on it so it added flavor without feeling like all you were doing was cutting off fat.

  3. Spicy Chicken - I love spicy food, they waiter said it wasn’t that spicy. I guess spicy is relative to the person lol.

  4. Soy Chicken - Normal

  5. Beef Chunks - Average

  6. Beef Tongue - Honestly, didn’t taste like anything weird. I can’t even place it, so I’m not afraid to eat it.

  7. Shrimp - Wouldn’t recommend because it’s not the same as if you ordered it at a seafood restaurant. Plus there wasn’t like a sauce to kind of cook it in and season it with, in my opinion.

  8. Squid - Super rubbery and took a lot of chewing to get through one little leg. I’m glad we didn’t order that for our table lol.

As a whole I really enjoyed the experience. The price is quite acceptable. So, if you ever go let me know how your experience went! What have you done to go #BeyondYourWindow recently? Try anything new recently? Share on social media with the hashtag, comment below, or send me a private message!
